the internet is for??

i think the internet is for staying up to date with day to day news and events. also staying in touch with friends and family all over the world with email and myspace or facebook. today, in society, people are surrounded by the internet and media means. today people can look up what happened exactly a year ago on this day in the world. information is literally and the fingertips of everyone who has the internet. also today in the internet, you have email, which is sending mail or letters, or practically anything that a person wants to tell someone, instantly. the internet has made society today more productive and efficient. everyday internet is used for practically everything. you cannot narrow it down to any one thing because of the vast capabilities available due to the internet. it really depends on your needs. for instance someone who is isolated from society might use internet to keep up to date in world events, as well as talk to friends they might have. If you are a business person, you check stocks and how other businesses are doing. so really internet is just a bunch of facts that are available. but where do they come from? when you use the internet, you are trusting the person, or organization who published that information. the internet can be an extremely reliable source but that can be very dangerous. if the web page or source  is unreliable and giving out false information, then the internet is not a good source for news. but every source of news can be like that. the trick to getting around the false information and unreliable sources is knowing how to use the internet. when  typing in your source, normally “.com” is the standard ending for your site. this can lead to anything, correct or false information. you have to be specific, endings like “.gov”, which means government, “.edu”, which means education, and “.org” which means organizations. these are all ways to get around unreliable sources. the internet can be extremely helpful or can kill you. but once you learn how successfully use it, then the internet is a very reliable source.
